FULDA — The jam-packed five-day festival is back.

Filled with a variety of activities ranging from tractor pulls to rock ‘n roll concerts, the 2018 Fulda Wood Duck Festival will run from Wednesday to Sunday, June 13-17.

In celebration of St. Paul Lutheran School’s 125th anniversary, this year’s theme is "Learning for a Lifetime." Caleb Ethridge, who just completed sixth grade at the school, designed the festival's T-shirt, which is on sale at Fulda City Gall and Maynard’s.

Things kick off at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fulda High School with the annual Miss Fulda Pageant. In the running for the crown, and a $500 scholarship, are Allison Kenney, Amber Breuker and Camille Paulzine.

The festival’s signature carnival, which features a full lineup of amusement rides from Midwest Rides, will open at 5 p.m. Thursday and remain open each day through Saturday. Food stands will be around Friday through Sunday.

Live music will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday when the Fulda Area Big Band takes the Fulda City Park stage.

On Friday, the Fulda High School Band will perform at 7 p.m. At 9:30 p.m., South Dakota rock band Judd Hoos will take the stage to raise money for the Fulda Fire Department.

Those who like to get up early for a run will be in for a treat Saturday. The 5k Run will start at 8:30 a.m. at Fulda High School, followed the 5k walk at 9:15 a.m. The Kids 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 10 a.m. Funds will go toward the Miss Fulda Pageant.

Also on Saturday is the memorial tractor ride at 10 a.m. at the Historical Society, kids fishing contest at 10 a.m. at Fulda Lake and a pickleball tournament at 11 a.m. at Fulda High School.

New to this year is the lawnmower poker run. Registration begins at 11:15 at the Fulda Community Center for those willing to take their mower for a spin.

A live cannon show will be by the water tower at 2 p.m., and the Grand Parade begins at 6 p.m. Later in the evening, the Fulda Lions Club street dance goes from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and fireworks will be set off at the Fulda Lake.

Continuing to Sunday, the Fulda Fire Department will host a pancake feed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fulda Community Legion Hall. A kiddie tractor pull will take place at noon in the park, and rock ‘n roll entertainment from Bob and the Beachcombers will start at 1 p.m.
