Auditions scheduled for Windom play
WINDOM — Prairie Arts Continuum (PAC) will host auditions for its community theatre production of the comedy “Southern Fried Funeral” at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 and Jan. 16 in the library at the Business, Arts & Recreation Center (BARC), 1012 Fifth Ave., Windom.
There are 11 parts, both large and small (equally important, but with fewer lines to memorize) for six females and five males.
“Southern Fried Funeral” results from the death of Dewey Frye. His widow not only has to contend with her sudden widowhood, but the one of the “church ladies” sticking her nose in the family business, Dewey’s brother making a grab for her house, and two grown daughters reliving their childhood rivalry. The show is big-hearted comedy about a Southern family playing out how funerals can bring out the worst, the best and the funniest in those impacted by the death of the family patriarch.
Anyone who is interested in auditioning but has a conflict on Jan. 15 and 16 should contact Director Tim Jenniges at (507) 831-1380 to make other arrangements for reading for a part. Those who are not interested in participating on stage, but would be willing to assist with sets, costumes, props, publicity or ushering, may also contact Jenniges.
The play will be performed in the BARC gymnasium on March 23–25. A dinner, catered by PJ’s Catering of Heron Lake, will precede the evening performances on March 23 and March 24. Seats for the dinner theatre production will be reserved. General seating, show only tickets will also be available for these evening performances.
A matinee with general admission seating in the gymnasium will be performed on March 25. Refreshments will not be served at this performance.
Tickets for "Southern Fried Funeral" will go on sale to the public at the BARC Office beginning Feb. 26.
